NPR, PBS, CDP and Greater Public Host Second Annual Public Media Giving Days
A national event for public media’s fans that raises awareness and support for local stations across the country.
(Boston, MA) May 1–2, 2024 marks the second annual Public Media Giving Days! Brought to you by Contributor Development Partnership, Greater Public, NPR and PBS, it’s a time for public media fans—of public television and radio alike—to come together to celebrate and declare to all the importance of public media!
Day One is about appreciating all that #PublicMediaGives by giving back. Everyone’s contributions matter, and everyone can be a part of helping public media continue to flourish.
Then, Day Two is about appreciation and advocacy. We want to spread the word about public media and raise its place in the public consciousness. It’s as easy as talking to friends and co-workers, sending emails or posting on social media using the hashtag #PublicMediaGives. Interested donors can head to https://publicmediagivingdays.com/ for suggestions, and assets will be provided to assist stations at https://publicmediagivingdays.org/.
Whether it’s a favorite drama, documentary, radio show or podcast, it’s a time to enjoy all that public media adds to our lives! Public media is available to all, playing an important role in our democracy, providing educational resources to our youth and delighting us with captivating entertainment. The heart of this mission has always been community involvement. Public Media Giving Days is about encouraging ourselves and others to become part of that involvement.

About CDP
Founded as an initiative by GBH drawing together public media stations in strategic collaboration in 2011, CDP is now an independent public benefit corporation working on behalf of more than 230 public radio and television stations to share data across the system, analyze fundraising performance and develop best practices. CDP’s mission is to grow net revenue for public media stations.
The “CDP idea” launched as an initiative by the Major Market Group of Public Television. With support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and GBH, a group of stations built the industry’s first and only National Reference File, a tool used daily to help stations better understand areas of opportunity to increase their fundraising effectiveness and efficiency.
